So what do you do to make sure your products are launched successfully and profitably? Follow our simple 4 step plan:

  • Step 1: Make sure you test.
  • Step 2: Don't forget the certification logos.
  • Step 3: Staff for the average load, outsource for the peaks.
  • Step 4: Contact NTS

How do you test for the success of your company?

Step 1: Make sure you test. You need to make sure that, even in these tough times, you test your product to make sure it is stable and as bug-free as possible. The best way to do that is to not skimp on the testing, especially if you'd like to avoid angry and irate customers. The last thing you want is a line-up of poorly tested, anomaly-packed hardware and software products that no one wants to buy. Don't get in the vicious cycle - poor testing → poor releases → poor revenue → layoffs → poor testing. . . You may save a few dollars now, but at what cost? Horrible blog posts and news articles about your products failing? Losing irreplaceable customer data? Paying people to give your products good reviews? Plus all of the associated redevelopment and retesting cost associated with the bug fix and patch release.

Step 2: Don't forget the certification logos. Yes, it is a small additional costs, but logo certifications (such as USB, ZigBee, MoCA, WHQL, and XM) will help you in the long run. Even companies that put out hundreds of new products a year still get their products certified as a final validation prior to release. USB products from companies that have been developing the same class of products since the release of USB 1.0 still regularly FAIL certifications due to new design choices or poor materials. Don't get slammed with support calls and bad word-of-mouth by forgetting the logos. In addition, if you use the logo without permission or on untested products, you may get hit with fines from the standard groups/alliances. It's not worth it!

Step 3: Staff for the average load, outsource for the peaks. Everyone is tightening their belts and unfortunately staffing levels are often the first cut to stay profitable. Like in any industry, there are peaks and valleys in terms of busyness of your employees. Although we'd all like to staff to meet all our peaks, that's just not feasible, especially in these tough times. Staff to maintain your average workload, as much as that's possible, and then bring in outside companies for those peaks so you can still get a high quality product out the door on schedule. It won't break the bank if you plan ahead. We know many of you've had layoffs - we can handle your overflow so you can still get your product out there door.

Step 4: Contact NTS. At NTS, we can help your quality assurance efforts. Here's how:
