A 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide is enough to produce significant bubbling when introduced onto a contaminated wound. Hydrogen peroxide at close to full strength will vaporize contaminated systems and anything that surrounds them. When kept pure and properly contained, hydrogen peroxide is an outstanding rocket fuel. TRW has chosen it as its favorite propellant in powering its defense laser systems. Safety Is Everything

Safety of NTS personnel is a large consideration in precision cleaning and passivation for hydrogen peroxide service since the surface that comes into contact with hydrogen peroxide (usually stainless steel) must be exposed to nitric acid for extended periods of time and NTS crews frequently must pump and drain the acids in and out of the system(s).
