Salt Fog Testing

Salt/fog and salt/spray testing is conducted in order to determine the effectiveness of protective coatings and finishes on materials, as well as the effects of salt deposits on the physical and electrical aspects of a product. NTS can conduct your corrosion testing to Mil-Std-810, ASTM B117, GM9540P and many more (see lists below).

Additionally, NTS can design a custom test around your specific needs. We have the chambers, support equipment and the technical expertise to provide you with a smooth running, fully compliant test. Our standard chambers range up to 10 ft x 8 ft x 6 ft (3m x 2.5m x 2m) and we can accommodate much larger parts with just a few modifications. For example, NTS tested a 14 ft (4.5m) missile required salt fog testing per Mil-Std-810. NTS responded in just 48 hours, providing a fully functional chamber meeting the test parameters.

NTS performs salt fog, salt spray, and cyclic corrosion testing on smaller parts as well, using smaller, economically commensurate equipment for the testing.
